June 2002 - Vietnam, Cambodia

"hello my frend"

cambodia .... 10 dollars for shooting a kalaschnikov, 20 for a granate, 100 for a rocketluncher and another 100 dollar if you want a cow for it .... welcome to cambodia ....

funny but real, but after you ve visited the killing fields in the capital phenom penh and found out about the cruel past (well, actually just 30 years ago), about the slaughtering of 2 million people, mostly intelligent people and people with their own mind being a danger to the former khmer rouge, you are definitely not in the mood for "happy shooting range".

but apart from the past, cambodia is fucking brilliant ... here i got much more out of it than i got from vietnam ... travelling again on the back of pickup trucks with 20 other locals on top of the 2 meter thick luggage for over 7 hours bumpy roads .... arriving (after relaxing days in phenom penh at the lake) in siem reap with 5 kilo dust on your skin.

you come to siem reap to see famous angkor wat ... cultural highlight of south east asia, like machu pichu in southamerica, like tikal in centralamerica, like the pyramides in africa. and angkor is huge ...very huge. loads of temples covered with big ancient trees and their roots, perfect sunsets and sunrises, mystic atmosphere .... absolutely great.
you need at least 2 days to see it, people end up spending nearly a week there.

well, i m heading on to bangkok for the soccer finals -- s gonna be a big party in pat pong afterwards, so i ll better make it in time. wanna see brasil winning .... guess they ll do it.

ok, gotta go and watch southkorea against turkey ...
