September 1999 - India

hey!

after three relaxing days i left varanasi and went down to khajuraho,
one of the 4 holy places of india, famous cause of the erotic art
tempels ... but u have to search quite a long time to find these erotic
images. but its defenitly a good place to visit. the tempels are really
great and u can hang around in a few lovely cafes. from there i went
straight to agra, where i arrived in the late afternoon and had dinner
at the rooftop of a nice guest house next to the taj mahal. next day i
got up quite early to see the sunrise at the taj mahal ... altough it
was a little bit cloudy, it was amazing. its so goddamn huge!! like in
a fairy tale ... just great. ive never seen such a thing before ...
really impressive. afterwards i checked out the red fort, which is also
quite amazing.
fathepur sikri is also worth a visit. it only takes an hour by bus from
agra to get there and its good, really good!
tonight is a festival going on in agra, so i think ill better stop now
and check this out. sounded quite interesting.
im gonna leave tomorrow morning - 03.09. - for jaipur and stay there
for one night. i should arrive in pushka around the 05.09. and will
probably stay there a couple of days and then head on to jaisalmer to
do some camel safari, although ive heard that the desert should be
quite green right now. anyway, the safari is going to be quite good
fun.

here a few good and cheap places to stay that i can recommend you so long ...

varanasi - tara guest house, shanti guest house, vishnu rest house,
mona lisa restaurant for food
agra - shahjahan hotel
pushka - rainbow hotel
jaisalmer - desert boys guest house

yeah, thats all folks for so long
write more soon
ciao
mucki
