A rainy day in Buenos Aires, St. Nicholas Youth Hostel around the corner of Plaza de Congresso. Hangover travellers chilling in
the living room. Most of them came home in the early morning hours after sucking up the great nightlife of BA. Nightlife
here starts late, very late...
Someone comes up with the idea of playing pool, and that's where we are heading ... left, right, 3 blocks ahead,
the beautiful receptionist (they are all beautiful and I m falling in love about 3 times a day) is giving
us the directions and we mission off ...
In these 3 weeks we ve been in BA, we never made it to the poolbar. The reason was fairly simple
- on the way to the poolbar is Pelvis. Pelvis is a special gettaway (especially for rainy afternoons), pretty much
like Hooters, but much better -- its in Argentina and it got character.... and it got Andrea, Vanesa, Nora, Jasmine
and Natalia serving, two pool tables, cheap beer, a cheesy jukebox and a hell of a sleezy atmosphere. What
more could we want, we were in paradise !
3 hours (6 pm) and 14 litres of beer later we decided that we have to got the floating casino. It s THE night tonight,
we could feel it...
So we picked up the girls from the hostel, had dinner at a good parilla (a few kilos of meat
with a couple of bottles of delicious Malbec from Mendoza) and took a cheap cabride through town to the casino.
We soon figured out the "system" and applied our strategy on it. As long as you play you get free drinks. Thus we only
played, when the waiter was around, ordering champagne and fernet con coca. Loosing money or not, with this strategy
we were always winners.
3 am. Time to leave and head to Palermo; the night was still young here in BA. The ones, who won money were covering
the cabs, the others completely drunk due to the efforts of covering all the lost money with free champagne.
The destination was fancy club Kika, but I dont recall very much of this night (I was one of the champagner
guys.... in this night my Spanish course went down the drain and the casino still ownes me about 24 drinks), but I ve been
told it was a blast.
7:30, we are finally back in the hostel. To early for breakfast, but too late to get enough sleep until breakfast
is over again. Conflict, conflict, but I ve heard they have an all day long breakfast at Pelvis ....
5 months later, people told me that the girls from Pelvis are still asking for us .... and they still even know
our names.....
